I became a client of Karen's 10 months ago when I decided I could no longer keep up with the excessive hair growth on my face, which included the unruliest ingrown hairs that were starting to cause marks and scarring on my face. And it's one of the best decisions and investments I could have ever made. Karen is a real pro and expert in her field. Beyond her technical expertise in electrolysis, I have found Karen even more knowledgeable and empathetic than my own dermatologist and physicians when asking her questions about hair growth and other hormone triggering conditions like melasma that I've had to deal with. She has a wonderful bedside manner, which is extremely important due to the nature of the work. I live in Washington, DC and have family on Long Island, so I plan my monthly visits back based on Karen's availability. I have seen a dramatic reduction in my hair growth and significant improvement in my skin (since I don't have to touch my face anymore to remove hairs like I used to daily). The process does require patience on behalf of the client, but once you decide that electrolysis is the choice for you, you'll be glad you chose Karen.

I was introduced to Karen Calder about 14 years ago when I was advised to try electrolysis on some undesirable facial hair. Up until that time, I had been waxing various areas on my body. After successful treatment of this delicate area, I decided to continue the treatment on other areas as the hair removal is permanent and leaves the skin extremely smooth.

Needless to say. I have been thrilled with the results: no more waxing which left ingrown hair or shaving, which left stubbles! I wouldn't trust anyone else but Karen to treat these sensitive areas.

My skin has always been very fare and my hair very dark. I started off waxing for a little. I was a young teen at the time and my mom suggested I try electrolysis. For some, being around needles can be frightening. I knew it was the right thing for me because I would never have to worry about the hair, ingrown hairs, the awful anticipation of the wax being ripped off a body part. I met Karen Calder and my life changed. The process takes time but it is worth it. Karen is the most amazing technician. She is so caring, gentle and trustworthy. I never had a question or a concern about any suggestion she offered. Now I am a mom and it's hard to find time to have treatment. I use to go for three hours at a time and often. I am so thankful that I went when I did because now I NEVER have to worry about any of the areas Karen worked on. We did eyebrows, face, underarm, bikini and legs. The skin is so smooth and not a trace of any hair. Please note that it can be a slow process but the end results are AMAZING. I now have my own little girl and I know that in the future electrolysis with Karen will be our solution to hair removal.

Karen is a true professional with decades of training in NYC from the best in the industry. I come every 6 to 8 weeks from Ohio specifically to work with Karen. She will do whatever she can to facilitate my schedule, even allowing me to come on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday! Her skills and warm personality are truly amazing and since my treatments began, I have very little facial hair left to conquer! I am now looking forward to having Karen work on my underarms!

It is truly liberating to not have to worry about unsightly facial hair, and an added bonus is that my makeup goes on flawlessly. I was constantly worried about what facial hairs were visible at what angle and who was looking at me up-close. Since working with Karen Calder, I am truly confident to be seen up-close and personal!

I am so happy to have the opportunity to rave about my experience with my electrologist, Karen Calder.
I began my hair removal about 20 years ago, wanting to work on my eyebrows. It was so successful that I then worked on my bikini and underarms and I am now a "plucked chicken" and couldn't be happier!

Over the years my boys and husband had their eyebrows worked on and my 29 year old daughter is now hair free and beyond thrilled.

I have been going to Karen for over 15 years for work on my eyebrows, face, underarms and bikini. Karen is extremely knowledgeable and only does what is best for her clients. She is patient, understanding and treats her clients as if they are family. Karen is realistic about how much time an area will take to clear and individualizes her treatment based on each client. She is extremely accommodating in terms of scheduling and always gives the client her full attention during each session. Even when the treatment is uncomfortable, Karen is able to make the experience pleasant. I am so thankful to have been able to go to Karen for so many years and all my friends are jealous when they hear that I haven't had to shave my underarms or bikini line in about 5 years. Karen is the absolute best and I highly recommend her services!

I can't imagine what I'd look like if I had not met Karen Calder. It's been almost 25 years of hair removal and I still look forward to every visit: my 1 hour drive has never been a deterrent! My visits are ALWAYS productive. Karen listens patiently to my complaints and obsessions, never making me feel silly. She analyses my skin and then "does her magic". She has a gentle touch and her work is precise. She has a wealth of knowledge about hair removal,skin care and many areas of wellness. There are days we are quiet and days we chat. Karen Calder is an exceptional electrologist. I have been a client of hers for over 10 years. She accomplished all that she has promised to complete and has worked diligently to permanently remove body and facial hair. The procedures or sessions were tolerable and practically painless, where I could almost fall asleep during them. My hair was permanently removed from certain areas that she worked on and they have never grown back since. I am now sure that electrolysis is the only true way to permanently remove human hair, as I had tried laser in the past and it was unsuccessful. Several people in my neighborhood raved about Karen's work, that I decided it was worth it to willingly travel to her office, even though it was a half hour car ride away from my home. She is worth her weight in gold and anyone that I have referred to her is just as happy with her work as I have been. She manages to be professional, warm, reassuring, personable, and sweet all at the same time and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Trust me when I tell you, it is difficult to find a good, trustworthy electrolysis and you will not find another electrologist in this area with the amount of experience, training, and knowledge that Karen has. Trusting your electrologist is incredibly important, as you create a certain bond with this person. You are modifying your body or face in a way, and you have to trust this person with this sort of personal change of appearance. Karen has been nothing but thorough and committed in helping me remove unwanted hair so that I could be more confident in my appearance. I would most definitely highly recommend her services to all who are introduced in removing hair and are looking for fantastic, remarkable results!

I, along with my daughters have been clients of Karen’s for over 10 years. While most probably think of going to their electrolysis appointment as dreadful, we find it to be just the opposite. Karen is not only one of most talented and professional electrologists, but happens to also be one of the most pleasant people to spend time with. Karen uses the finest of equipment, has the utmost of knowledge on the subject and has the cleanest of hygiene while performing her services. Karen’s care and diligence is unparalleled, giving the absolute fullest of herself each minute you are there. I have had tremendous success with electrolysis on many parts of my body; I have never had a problem with any treatment, as her knowledge of her work as well as her after care methods are exemplary. My girls and I moved from Long Island into Manhattan 2 years ago; and while I switched most of our services into the city, I never considered having anyone else for our electrolysis needs. Each of my daughters and myself know that Karen is well worth the trip. She simply is “the best”!

From the time I was in my mother’s belly and on Karen’s table, I knew I was destined to one day be a client of Karen’s! At 15 years of age, I was old enough to go to Karen and begin the hair removal process for myself. I had the luxury when I was living at home and in college to go to Karen as often as I wanted, but now that I work and live in Manhattan, it is is very hard to find the time to get out there, but it is so well worth the time and effort when I do.

I first met Karen after the birth of my first child. We started working on my face then underarms, and then my bikini area and even my fingers. toes and belly. Becoming pregnant with my second child did not stop the process, and 26 years later she is still assisting me to get rid of unwanted hair.
